Suzanne is Executive Vice President and has been with IPX1031 for over eighteen years, during 15 years of which she served as its general counsel. She is currently focused on government affairs related to preservation of Section 1031. Suzanne is a licensed attorney who has been facilitating tax-deferred exchanges since the “Final Regs” were issued in 1991. She has 25+ years of trust, banking and compliance experience. Suzanne is a frequent lecturer on the subject of 1031 Exchanges at continuing education seminars for attorneys, accountants, real estate brokers and exchange facilitators.
Suzanne is a past President and former member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators (FEA), and is an active member of the Government Affairs Committee, which she co-chaired for many years. She frequently meets with members of the US Congress, the Internal Revenue Service, the US Department of the Treasury, the Joint Committee on Taxation, and various state legislators, providing a resource for better understanding of the issues confronting taxpayers and their Qualified Intermediaries. She has worked with a number of states to draft and pass legislation regulating exchange accommodators and is highly engaged in industry efforts related to tax reform proposals affecting 1031 Exchanges. Suzanne earned a JD from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law and a BA, with honors, from the University of Illinois.
